Smoking is bad for you - New World Oven Element Burnoff

Before I clean an oven I have to burn the grease off the element. Often they have not been used and the fat and debris from oven cooking has coated the grill element.

Burning off the element gets rid of all the muck so it does not drop down onto your food. As you can see sometimes it all gets a bit smoky. Doing the burn off makes it easier to clean the grill parts.
